Gold Vermeil - a minimum of 2.5 microns of usually 18 karat gold plated using electrolysis over Sterling Silver. Used a lot on curved surfaces.
Gold Fill - a minimum of 5% total weight usually 14 karat gold, laid in multiple strips usually on flat surfaces.
Gold Plate - a think coating of gold. As a comparison it would be a tenth of the weight in gold of a gold fill.
Faux Gold - sometimes refered to as composite gold leaf, this is an imitation gold alloy created by blending copper, brass and zinc.
Gold Coloured - a painted representation of gold.
